Nottinghamshire ambulance sat-nav stolen on emergency call

A thief has stolen a satellite navigation system from an ambulance in Nottinghamshire while the crew treated a patient.

The device was taken while paramedics on a 999 call were in a house in Snell Close, Sutton-on-Trent, between 16:55 GMT and 17:10 GMT on Sunday.

East Midlands Ambulance Service said the equipment does not work in ordinary vehicles and is therefore worthless.

Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for information.

Sgt Brendon Hunt, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This is a despicable and serious crime involving a life-saving vehicle attending a 999 call.

"The suspect must have waited to seize his moment, snatching a piece of equipment which is crucial when responding to an incident."
