Man, 27, critical following stabbing in Nottingham

Police near the crime scene Officers closed the street while searches were carried out

A 27-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was stabbed in Nottingham city centre.

Police believe the man, who was found injured at about 01:45 GMT in Long Row on Sunday, was violently assaulted.

The street was closed until 14:00 GMT, from its junction with High Street to the Council House, while forensic examinations took place.

Officers said an extensive search of the area had taken place and they were viewing CCTV footage.

Det Insp Leigh Sanders said: "We believe the altercation took place near to where, and not long before, the victim was found. It is also possible that there were a number of people involved."

Officers said the area would have been busy, and appealed for witnesses.
