Smashed window Shortly after the shooting, a resident found his window was shattered

A man has been taken to hospital after being shot in the arm near a shopping precinct in a Nottingham suburb.

Police said the 28-year-old was hit close to the Bridgeway Centre in The Meadows shortly before 22:00 GMT on Monday.

He is now being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made but an area around the shopping precinct remains cordoned off. Police have not said what type of firearm was used.

A resident who lives close to the Bridgeway Centre described hearing two shots, the first of which sounded like "a firework" before finding his bedroom window had been shattered.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
