Police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a shooting outside a Nottingham pub.

Officers were called to the Vernon pub in Old Basford at about 21:30 BST on Friday.

A 23-year-old woman suffered a single gunshot wound, but the injury is not thought to be life-threatening, Nottinghamshire Police said.

The man was arrested in the early of hours of Sunday and is due to be interviewed later.

The woman remains at the Queen's Medical Centre in a stable condition.

Unconnected incidents

A cordon which was put in place around the pub on Friday night has mostly been lifted, but an area near the pub's garden remains cordoned off.

Ch Insp Matthew McFarlane, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "At this time we don't believe this is connected to previous incidents.

"We're investigating as to what happened last night to find the person responsible for it, arrest them and hopefully put them in prison."

Police have not yet recovered a weapon but officers are checking CCTV footage and have carried out house-to-house inquiries.
