Charge after boy, four, 'stabbed' in Mansfield

A 51-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder over the apparent stabbing of a four-year-old boy in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found with what police believe were stab wounds on Frederick Street on Monday afternoon.

He is in a stable condition at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.

Steve Frogg, of Frederick Street, appeared before Mansfield magistrates earlier and was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 25 April.
