Nottingham's Sneinton Market re-opens after £6.8m revamp
New apple trees have also been planted to celebrate the area's history as a wholesale market
A market in Nottingham that has undergone a £6.8m transformation has been officially opened to the public.
Sneinton Market's revamp features a larger space to be used for public performances, markets, festivals and community events.
Apple trees have also been planted to celebrate the area's history as a wholesale market.
The transformation was part of the city council's plans to regenerate the eastern side of the city.
A time capsule, containing old photos of the market, has been buried underneath the site to commemorate the work.
The new square stands alongside the refurbished Victoria Leisure Centre, which is due to open next year.
