Colwick man in court over woman's death in Netherfield

A man has been remanded in custody over the death of a woman who was found stabbed at a house in Nottingham.

Police found the body of mother-of-one Leighann Wightman, 24, at the property in Norman Street in Netherfield at about 05:30 BST on Saturday.

Andrew Kemp, 48, from Vale Road, Colwick, appeared before magistrates in Nottingham charged with murder and was remanded into custody.

He is due to appear before Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday.

A post-mortem examination revealed Ms Wightman, who had a daughter aged five, died from stab wounds.
