Thousands join Nottingham's 31st Robin Hood marathon

A Nottinghamshire runner has won the 31st Robin Hood marathon.

Carl Allwood, from Sutton in Ashfield, completed the race through the streets of Nottingham in two hours, 38 minutes and 40 seconds.

Kenyan runner Elisha Meli Tarus won the half marathon in one hour, five minutes and 52 seconds.

Up to 12,000 people took part in the event, which started and ended at the Victoria Embankment and also included a fun run and relay.

Sarah Harris, from Sandiacre, won the women's marathon in two hours, 47 minutes and 47 seconds.

Philip Hogg won the wheelchair race in an hour, six minutes and 49 seconds.

Chris Sumner, race organiser, said: "There were some challenges with course changes but it has gone as smoothly as ever.

"People have come out and the crowd has probably been better than ever at the embankment."
