Driver arrested over fatal crash in Strelley

A driver has been arrested in connection with a crash in Nottingham which killed a pedestrian.

Gary John Elvidge, 49, of York Drive, Strelley, was hit on Woodhouse Way early on Monday afternoon.

He was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre but was declared dead soon afterwards. The road was closed for a number of hours for investigations.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.
