Nails on Nottinghamshire footpath prompt warning

A series of incidents where tacks or small nails have been found near a Nottinghamshire nature reserve has prompted a warning from police.

There have been reports of punctured bicycle tyres and at least one injury on the path between Attenborough Nature Reserve and Beeston Marina.

Police said they believed the tacks had been placed there deliberately.

Officers confirmed they were increasing patrols in the area and are warning walkers and cyclists to take care.

Pc Chris Copley, beat manager for Beeston Rylands, said: "Increased activity is taking place around the area to help us catch whoever is doing this.

"There is a risk to the public, particularly young children, and animals and we will take positive action against the offender who is committing criminal damage."
