Northamptonshire police worker tested positive for class A drug

A Northamptonshire police worker has resigned after testing positive for a class A drug.

The worker - who has not been named - had faced a disciplinary hearing in connection with the matter. The police have not disclosed which drug its employee had allegedly taken.

But the staff member resigned before the hearing took place, the force said.

It was one of 10 misconduct allegations formally investigated by the constabulary between April and June.

In a separate case, a special constable also resigned after being accused of placing "discreditable comments of an offensive nature on a social media site".
