Boy accused of teenager murder appears in court

A teenager charged with the murder of a 17-year-old who was fatally wounded in Daventry has appeared in court.

Northamptonshire Police said the victim died after an "incident" in the Lang Farm area of the town on Saturday. He was confirmed dead at hospital in Coventry.

A 17-year-old boy appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court and has been remanded to secure accommodation.

He is due to appear at Northampton Crown Court in July.

The defendant and the dead teenager cannot be named for legal reasons.
