Northampton nursing homes set to close

23 April 2014 Last updated at 11:09 BST

New accommodation is urgently being sought for 69 residents of two nursing homes that have gone into administration.

The Redruth and Cedarwood nursing homes in Northampton, owned by Mapara Investments, are to close within weeks.

Simon Thomas from the administrators said they had "carefully reviewed operations at both homes and concluded that it will not be possible to turn them around and stem trading losses."

A Northamptonshire County Council spokesman said it was working with NHS Nene Clinical Commissioning Group and the homes to support residents, find alternative accommodation and "minimise stress and disruption".

BBC Look East's Stuart Ratcliffe reports.
