Up to 70 jobs could be created at a motor sport engineering firm after plans for a factory have been given the green light.

Cosworth will build a 38,000 sq ft (3,530 sq m) production unit on its existing Northampton site after borough councillors approved the project.

It will be used to manufacture machined engine castings.

The land at the end of St James Mill Road is owned by the borough council but will be leased to Cosworth.

The firm has said it hopes the factory will be finished by August.
