Northampton cycle path death believed to be due to cold

The death of a 35-year-old man found on a cycle path in Northampton is believed to have been caused by the weather.

A cyclist found the body of a man from the St James area at 02:48 GMT on Thursday, a cold and wet night, on a path linking Briar Hill with Sixfields.

Investigators and a pathologist have ruled the death was not suspicious.

After a post-mortem examination it is believed the man "became disoriented and succumbed to the weather conditions", police said.

A police spokesman said: "A report is now being prepared for the coroner.

"We are keen to speak to anybody who saw a disoriented man walking in the St James, Sixfields or Lakeland area around Briar Hill between 15:00 GMT on Wednesday, 12 February, and 02:48 on Thursday, 13 February."
