Northamptonshire County Cricket Club (NCCC) has submitted plans to build a new permanent stand for 950 fans.

It will replace the temporary University of Northampton and Briggs & Forrester stands that have been next to the cricket school since 2009.

Demolition has already begun and it is hoped the seating will be completed in time for the start of the new season.

NCCC chief executive David Smith said the stand would also allow it to increase its summer concerts capacity.

The authority is due to make a decision on the stand by 21 March.

The club was crowned FLt20 champions and won promotion to the County Championship Division One in 2013.
