King's Cliffe school site 'may close' under council proposal

A proposal to close one of the sites of a middle school in Northamptonshire because it is not "financially" viable is to be considered by a council.

The county council will look at whether to close the King's Cliffe site of Oundle and Kings Cliffe Middle School.

The proposal has been put forward by school governors and the council amid concerns about falling numbers, which in turn affects the school's finances.

If approved, pupils would transfer to the site in Oundle from September.

The fall in numbers has been made worse by poor Ofsted results in the past, a council spokeswoman said.

The proposal will be discussed at a council meeting on 16 January.

If the council agrees, it will go out to public consultation from 22 January to 5 March.
