Northamptonshire's cricketers are to be given a civic reception after winning their first FLt20 title.

Northampton Borough Council said it was working with the club to organise an open-top bus victory parade through the town and a reception at the Guildhall.

The county won its first one-day title since 1992 with a 102-run victory over Surrey at Edgbaston on Saturday.

The council said the reception and parade would be held on 27 September and details would be announced later.

David Mackintosh, council leader, said: "We have been working hard to arrange a date with the Steelbacks so they can parade the cup and share the victory with everyone who couldn't make it to Edgbaston.

"But with a number of important matches coming up, we felt it would be best to wait until the end of the season so the players can focus on keeping the momentum going."
