Rothwell Town's former clubhouse destroyed in fire

Fire at Rothwell Town FC Smoke from the fire could be seen in Corby, reports said

A Northamptonshire football team's ex-clubhouse has been destroyed by fire.

Up to 20 firefighters tackled the blaze in the derelict building at the old Rothwell Town FC ground.

The fire at the Cecil Street site started at about 20:00 BST on Wednesday and was put out just after 22:00 BST, the fire service said.

Fire and rescue investigators were at the scene on Thursday trying to establish a cause while crews were also dealing with hotspots.

The building has stood empty since the football club left the ground at the end of the 2011/12 season with its future uncertain.
