Kettering incident: Injured man dies in hospital

A 41-year-old man has died just over six weeks after suffering head injuries in an assault in Northamptonshire.

Marc Sturgess, of Stamford Road, Kettering, died in hospital on Monday 15 July. He was injured on Saturday 1 June in Barnwell Street, Kettering.

Six men, who all live in Kettering, were arrested in June on suspicion of serious assault and remain on bail, police said.

Det Chief Insp Mark Behan expressed sympathies to Mr Sturgess's family.

He also said: "I would ask anyone who was in the area of Barnwell Road, Kettering, between 23:00 BST and midnight on 1 June, to contact us.

"I would especially like to speak with any taxi drivers who bought passengers to the area at those times."

He described it as an isolated incident.
