Details of potential new witnesses have been released by police investigating the murder of a nightclub boss found dead in a hotel room.

David Ross, 39, known as Les, was found dead in the Village Express hotel in Corby, Northants, on 17 December.

Police want to identify the driver of a silver or grey Vauxhall Insignia or Vectra seen in Chapel Lane car park.

They are also looking for a person in a hooded top seen on CCTV that morning walking down the road the hotel is in.

The person was shown walking down The Jamb at 07:26 GMT and was recorded on CCTV starting to cross the road but then changing their mind.

The Vauxhall driver was wearing a suit-type jacket, which was removed before he drove away, and police think he may have visited one of the local shops.

'Good progress'

Mr Ross, who would have turned 40 this Saturday, had opened the Rubix nightclub in the town with his business partners two weeks before his death.

He was staying at the hotel because his home had flooded and been burgled.

Detectives said the investigation was making "good progress".

Det Ch Insp Martin Kinchin said: "While this is a challenging investigation, significant progress has been made since 17 December.

"It has become apparent that a number of people with information were initially reluctant to come forward through fear of repercussions, but this is changing and more people are now providing useful information."

The investigation into the murder of Mr Ross has involved 47 police officers and staff, 221 statements generating 483 investigative reports and the taking of 886 exhibits.

Mr Kinchin said there were a number of potential witnesses who had not been traced, including people waiting for a bus opposite the Village Express hotel.

A 40-year-old Corby man is on police bail while investigations continue.
