Northamptonshire A14 widening: Work starts on Tuesday

Advance work starts later this week on a scheme to widen the A14 on a busy stretch in Northamptonshire.

Preliminary work is to be carried out between junction 7 and 9 at Kettering where traffic is expected to increase.

Site clearance and surveys will start on Tuesday and continue until early March, the Highways Agency said.

Most of the work will be done overnight with lanes one or two of either the eastbound or westbound carriageway closed for 10 hours from 20:00 GMT.

The main construction work is expected to start in autumn this year.

The Highways Agency said site clearance now, before the start of the spring bird nesting, means they can avoid any disturbance to wildlife which might otherwise lead to delays.
