M1 southbound reopened after two accidents

Meat on M1 in Northamptonshire Police closed the road at about 11:20 GMT after the Northamptonshire accident

Sections of the southbound M1 which were closed after two lorry accidents have been reopened.

In Northamptonshire a lorry shed its load of animal carcasses across the southbound carriageway between junctions 15A and 16 at 11.20 GMT.

Another lorry overturned in Leicestershire, blocking the road in the same direction between junctions 21A and 22.

The lorry driver in Leicestershire was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police said no-one was hurt in the Northamptonshire crash.

There were long delays up until 19:00 GMT.

Police said lanes two and three on junction 15A will be closed for a few hours overnight, while workmen carryout repairs.
