Northampton canal death: Jehovah Pembele, 2, dies
Jehovah Pembele, also known as Giovani, died in Glenfield Hospital
A two-year-old boy found in a canal in Northamptonshire has died in hospital.
Jehovah Pembele, also known as Giovani, was recovered from the Grand Union Canal in Northampton on Saturday night after a search by police, family and local residents.
Paramedics were called to the scene and the boy was taken to Northampton General Hospital.
He was later transferred to Glenfield Hospital where he died in the early hours of Sunday.
Northamptonshire Police are working with the family to establish the circumstances leading up to the death.
A police spokeswoman said it was thought the boy fell into the canal and they are not treating the death as suspicious.
Jehovah was playing with other children in the warm sunshine directly outside his semi detached house in West Cotton Close, Northampton.
It was the second death in less than a week on Northamptonshire's waterways.
Daniel McCullagh, 15, drowned near Woodford Lock last Tuesday.
