Fire services in Northants and Warks to collaborate

Plans for an alliance between Northamptonshire and Warwickshire fire services have been agreed in an attempt to save money.

Northamptonshire County Council approved plans to share some resources, including training and control systems.

Control centres will not be shared and the authorities have described the plan as a partnership rather than a merger.

The measure will to go to public consultation in October. If approved it could be implemented by April 2013.
