New foam used to help tackle blaze at recycling centre near Kettering
Firefighters are using a special foam to bring a two-week-old fire at a waste recycling centre near Kettering under control.
The fire at Blackbridge Farm in Burton Latimer started on 9 October.
At the height of the fire plumes of smoke were seen 25 miles away in the village of Weedon.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is using a foam with heavy water that sticks to the material to help put out the blaze.
Fire crews expect the blaze to continue for another 10 days.
Blackbridge Farm is an industrial site run by Think Environmental Ltd, which recycles waste to form bales that are then used to produce energy.
There were originally 20,000 tonnes of mostly of mostly paper and plastic waste on fire.Cause investigated
This has been reduced to 10,000 tonnes by firefighters.
Residents, schools and businesses in the area have had to keep their doors and windows closed.
