County Council invites bids to run new Corby school

Northamptonshire County Council is looking for organisations interested in running a new primary school in Corby.

The council will build the school in Oakley Vale, but wants another organisation to take over its administration.

The school, which is due to open in 2013, will have 420 places.

Andrew Grant, cabinet member responsible for schools, said: "Oakley Vale has become popular with the number of people that have moved here."

The council is still looking for a site in the Oakley Vale area and is currently negotiating with some land owners, including Corby Borough Council.

"This will be a school maintained by the county council in respect that funding will come from the council and not directly from the government," said Councillor Grant.

People in Oakley Vale will be consulted on the plans throughout the process.

The consultation process will last for four months, after which a special cabinet will meet to discuss the bids.
