Daventry man dies in 'hit and run' crash

A 23-year-old man from Northamptonshire has died after he was hit by a car which then failed to stop.

Janek Alexander Pearce, of Daventry, died at the scene on the A406 North Circular Road, at the junction with Golders Green Road, in north London.

Police have just released details of the crash, which happened early on Friday.

A car was found shortly afterwards and a 21-year-old man has been arrested and bailed, police added.

A 22-year-old man who was with Mr Pearce was taken to hospital, where he is being treated for broken legs.
