A 17-year-old has appeared in court charged with murdering a man who was stabbed at a 21st birthday party.

Connor Barrett, 20, from Great Yarmouth, was attacked at the private party at a property in The Glebe, Hemsby, Norfolk, on Saturday.

He was taken to James Paget Hospital in Gorleston where he later died.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be indentified because of his age, appeared at a youth court in Norwich. The case was adjourned.

A man aged 41, a 35-year-old woman and five teenagers remain on bail pending further inquiries.

Mr Barrett's mother, Niomi O'Donovan, paid tribute to her son.

She said: "Connor was a loving son, brother, grandson and great-grandson. He was also a devoted father to his own son.

"He was loved and liked by many people and will be greatly missed by all. His death will leave a tragic emptiness in so many people's lives.

"I would like to thank all the people who have offered their support and condolences, which show Connor was a very much-liked person by those who knew him."
