Norwich Prince of Wales Road car crash leads to arrests

Two men have been arrested after a four car collision which injured a taxi driver in Norwich.

Officers tried to stop a VW Golf seen in "suspicious circumstances" at about 01:45 GMT, police said.

The car crashed into a marked police car in Castle Meadows and continued along Prince of Wales Road where it hit three other vehicles, including two taxis, near Mojo's nightclub.

The road was closed until about 06:00 GMT for police investigations.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and drink driving. His 22-year-old passenger was arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without consent.

Norfolk Police Commander, Ch Supt Nick Davison said: "This was a serious incident which resulted in a taxi driver, who was sitting in his vehicle at the time, suffering minor injuries.

"It's incredibly fortunate no-one else, including any pedestrians, were hurt during this incident which happened in the heart of the city's clubland."
