Man charged over 1996 Trowse rape and attempted murder

A man has been charged with the rape and attempted murder of a woman in a Norfolk village more than 17 years ago.

The charges relate to an attack on a 20-year-old woman in the White Horse Lane area of Trowse, near Norwich, on 20 July 1996.

Police said the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team had carried out an unsolved case review.

Peter John Carroll, 55, of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, is due to appear before Norwich magistrates on Saturday.
