Norfolk ukulele surfer Zip Pain proves US hit
A retired teacher has proved a musical smash in the US with a video of him playing the ukulele while surfing off the Norfolk coast.
James 'Zip' Pain, 59, of Brundall, Norfolk, has filmed himself playing the ukulele while surfing, skateboarding, and on a camel.
One of his videos was seen by advertisers for a chain of music shops in the US.
They have featured Zip's performance in a television advert.
'A bit cool'
The clip of Zip shows him playing his ukulele while surfing at Winterton.
He said: "It was a bit cool, as normally I have a wetsuit on but I decided to go barefooted, with shorts. And a sou'wester hat I thought was essential."
The retired religious studies teacher also writes songs which feature on his YouTube channel.
Norwich Ukulele Society founder Gemma Cullingford said it was great that Zip was spreading the fun to be had from ukuleles in the US.
"I always knew there was something a bit special about James," she said.
