Carer Angela Perkins jailed for stealing from patient
A carer has been jailed for two years for stealing more than £100,000 from a 90-year-old patient with dementia.
Angela Perkins, of Music House Lane, Norwich, took the money from the woman, who is in 24-hour residential care, over a five-year period from 2005.
As she helped with her patient's shopping, Perkins had access to the woman's Pin numbers and bank accounts.
Perkins, 47, who pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday.
Speaking after the hearing, Det Con Huw Caine said: "The actions of Perkins left the victim confused, upset and extremely traumatised with worry due to the fact her savings had dwindled away and she didn't have any money left in her account.
"Perkins exploited the fact the victim was vulnerable and removed money from the victim's account for her own use, abusing her position of trust."
Norfolk Police said it was trying to confiscate money from Perkins under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
