Abandoned horses: Charities call for government action
Animal welfare charities have called on the government for help as the number of abandoned horses soars with the recession.
Six charities have handed a report to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs asking for a new national database of horses, more checks on animals brought into the country and larger fines for those who abandon animals.
