Norfolk Broads deaths: Annette Creegan killed with ligature

The boat hired by Annette Creegan and John Didier was examined by forensic officers

A woman whose body was pulled from the Norfolk Broads was strangled with a ligature, a coroner has said.

The body of Annette Creegan, 41, of Mitcham, south London, was found in the River Bure on 2 September.

She had been on a boating holiday with her partner John Didier, 41, whose body was also recovered from the river.

An inquest in Norwich heard Ms Creegan died of compression of the neck (ligature strangulation) and Mr Didier, a US national, had drowned.

Ms Creegan's 13-year-old daughter had been found alone on a hire boat on Salhouse the day before the bodies were discovered.

Greater Norfolk coroner William Armstrong said no criminal proceedings were contemplated in the case but that police investigations on his behalf were continuing.

The inquest was adjourned to a date yet to be fixed.
