Norwich man arrested over device under car at Buxton

A 49-year-old man from Norwich has been arrested after a suspicious device was safely removed from outside a house in Norfolk.

Police were called to Coltishall Road in Buxton on Sunday morning when the device was spotted under a car.

People had to leave six nearby properties while Army explosive ordnance disposal officers dealt with the device.

A safety cordon was lifted at 20:30 BST and residents returned to their homes.

Police said they believed it was an isolated incident relating to a specific individual, with no further risk to the public.

Initial examinations indicated the object was safe to remove and it was taken to a forensic laboratory for further examination.

The man, who was arrested earlier, is being questioned over the incident.
