Cromer crabs protected status consultation begins
A consultation has begun on giving EU protected status to crabs caught off Cromer, putting the seafood on a par with Melton Mowbray pies and Cornish clotted cream.
Fisherman John Davies said he could not see what difference protected status would make to the business but others in the town support the move.
It comes as hopes were raised that a local company could save some of the 230 jobs lost with the closure of Young's Seafood's crab factory.
