A Norfolk arts festival is celebrating a 137% rise in ticket sales compared with last year.

Holt Festival said 3,524 tickets - 48% - had already been snapped up for the July event in the first three weeks of sale.

In the same period last year only 1,489 tickets - 30% - had been bought.

Festival director Delaval Astley said: "I like to think the variety in the programme is very strong, attracting a broader range of people than before."

Organisers said Opera production La Boheme and a show by poet John Cooper Clarke had sold out.

Playwright Alan Bennett, Jazz musician Courtney Pine and child art prodigy Kieron Williamson are also due to appear at this year's festival, which runs from 22 to 28 July.
