JC Harrison bird watercolours fetch £535,338 at auction
The Take Off sold for about six times its estimated price
A collection of more than 100 works by a late Norfolk bird artist has fetched nearly £536k at auction.
The 116 paintings by JC Harrison sold at Bonhams in London and fetched more than £200,000 over its estimate.
One work, The Take Off, sold for a top price of £33,650.
The works were previously owned by wildlife photographer Terry Andrewartha, who worked for the TV programme Survival.
John Cyril Harrison was known for his artworks that captured the movement of birds in flight.
Although based in Norfolk he travelled widely to expand his body of avian work which included Scotland's golden eagles, snipe, herons, curlews, grouse and owls among others.
