Osprey lands in Ranworth Broad nature reserve

An osprey has taken up temporary residence at Norfolk Wildlife Trust's Ranworth Broad nature reserve.

The rare visitor from Africa is using the fish-rich waters of the reserve as a good place to stock up before continuing its migration north.

The bird's final destination is likely to be Scotland or Scandinavia.

The trust said: "It's impossible to say how long the osprey will stay but for now at least it doesn't seem to be in a hurry to carry on its long journey."

The fish-eating bird of prey, which has a 1.5 metre wingspan, can sometimes be viewed distantly from the trust's floating Broads Wildlife Centre or from one of the trust's guided wildlife boat trips.
