King's Lynn hospital gains foundation status

A hospital in Norfolk has achieved NHS foundation status.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn said it would now have greater freedom to develop health services, and give patients more of a say.

It said it would also be able to raise money to invest in the hospital.

Chief executive Nerissa Vaughan said the "important goal" recognised the QEH as a safe, high-performing hospital. She thanked staff and volunteers for their help in attaining it.
