Thetford road shut by fallen power cables

A major road through Norfolk will be closed into the night after an overhead power line was brought down by a lorry.

Long queues developed in and around Thetford after an accident on the A1066 at Rushford in which a lorry overturned and brought the cables down.

The 45-year-old male driver was taken to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds where he is said to be in a stable condition.

The road between Thetford to Diss will be closed until at least midnight.

Engineers from EDF Energy Networks are at the scene repairing the damage.

Three households have had their power supply cut off while the repairs are being done.
