Motorist Andrew Salter dies in M53 motorway crash

M53 Mr Salter died when his Jaguar hit an embankment

A driver was killed when his car hit a motorway embankment on Merseyside.

Andrew Salter, from Wirral, sustained head injuries when his Jaguar left the southbound M53 near Upton just after 11:10 BST on Sunday.

The 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. A child who was also in the car was taken to hospital but was found to be uninjured.

Merseyside Police said the full circumstances surrounding the crash were being investigated.
