A man dressed as a clown is wanted by police over a robbery at a currency exchange in Liverpool.

Officers were called to the Cheque Centre on County Road in Walton at about 14:10 BST on 22 July.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said the man - in a yellow wig, white make-up and false nose - had forced a member of staff into an office before escaping with a quantity of cash.

The force has released CCTV images of the man in an effort to catch him.

The spokesman said the female staff member was not hurt in the robbery but was "left very distressed".

Det Insp Andy Ephgrave said the man was believed to have been in the area at the time "claiming to be collecting for a charity".

He said officers were trying to "establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident" and asked for the man or any witnesses to get in touch.
