Man injured in 'targeted' shooting on Merseyside

A 24-year-old man was shot in the abdomen in a "targeted" shooting on Merseyside, police said.

The shooting took place outside a house on Lyme Cross Road in Huyton on Tuesday night at around 22:45 BST.

Police believe a man armed with a pistol fired shots at two men in the front garden of the property, before running away.

The man is being treated in hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening, Merseyside Police said.

Ch Insp Jerry Harris said: "At this early stage of our investigation, the motive for the attack remains unclear although we believe that it was a targeted incident."
