Bootle man held after man, 19, killed in 'hit and run'

A man has been arrested after a 19-year-man was killed in an alleged hit and run incident in Merseyside.

Merseyside Police received a report of a man lying on Northern Perimeter Road, Bootle, close to the Parkway junction, at about 00:30 BST.

It then received another call reporting a car had run over a pedestrian and the driver failed to stop, said police.

A Bootle man, 23, has been held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police said he was arrested after he attended a police station voluntarily.
