Three held over father and son shootings in Liverpool

Three people have been arrested in Manchester over a shooting of a father and son in Liverpool on Wednesday.

A man, 36, from Kirkby was arrested in the Didsbury area of Manchester on suspicion of attempted murder.

A man, 32, and woman, 26, from Didsbury, are being held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A 51 year-old man suffered serious face injuries and his 27 year-old son was wounded in the leg after being shot in Lance Close in Everton.

    The Lady Lever Art Gallery is celebrating after being given £1.2m by the Heritage Lottery Fund towards its renovation project.

    Plans for the China, Wedgwood and Chinoiserie rooms at the Lady Lever Gallery

    The scheme to restore the Port Sunlight gallery to its "former Edwardian glory" will cost £2.8m.

    New display rooms willshow off more than 1,500 items, including a death mask of French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, a "world-renowned" collection of Wedgwood jasperware and some "exquisite" 17th and 18th Century Chinese porcelain, a spokeswoman said.

    There are strong winds on M6 at the moment between Junction 21 at Woolston and Junction 21A for the M62 at the Croft Interchange.

    Elsewhere, an accident is causing slow traffic on the M56 eastbound at Junction 14 for Hapsford in Cheshire.
