Boxer Joe Selkirk The assault happened as the pair argued outside a hotel after Selkirk's European light middleweight title win in Liverpool

A champion boxer has admitted slapping his movie star girlfriend in a row outside a Liverpool hotel.

Joe Selkirk hit 23-year-old Bollywood actress Amy Jackson in the face the morning after he won his WBO European light middleweight title in Liverpool in December.

Sentencing of the 28-year-old from Bootle was adjourned until April.

The case was brought before city magistrates despite Miss Jackson refusing to make an official complaint.

The former Miss Liverpool launched her career in Bollywood after she was spotted by Indian film producers in a beauty contest.

The assault happened on 8 December outside the city's Malmaison Hotel.
