Balbinder Dhillon fatally injured Donna Davies, 41, in his Audi A4 on Lovely Lane, Warrington in April 2013.

Dhillon, 39, of Montana Close, Great Sankey, Warrington, had previously admitted causing death by dangerous driving.

Earlier, he was given a two-year suspended sentence, at Warrington Crown Court.

The defendant was also ordered to carry out 300 hours' unpaid work and disqualified from driving for five years.

He has to pay a victim surcharge of £100.

Mrs Davies was walking along the footpath with her 10-year-old daughter, who escaped uninjured.

Dhillon was arrested when he was released from Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, where he was treated for injuries he sustained in the crash.
