Man held after boy hit by scrambler bike in Bootle

A 20-year-old man has been arrested after an eight-year-old boy was hit by a scrambler bike which failed to stop.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving, a Merseyside Police spokesman said.

The boy was hit by a bike in Beatrice Street, Bootle at 19:00 GMT on Tuesday and seriously injured, he added.

The arrested man has been taken to a police station on Merseyside for questioning.
